Lightning Protection Systems

We offer LIGHTNING PROTECTION and SURGE PROTECTION for your home and business. From our hometown of Greeneville Tennessee, we travel throughout Tennessee, Virginia, North Carolina, Kentucky, and Georgia. If you are in Southwest Virginia, East Tennessee, Western North Carolina, or Eastern Kentucky you might have seen our van at your neighbor’s home or just driving along the highways to or from a job. We also repair or update existing lightning protection systems.

Today’s homes require more than just lightning rods to help provide protection. Modern electronics are very susceptible to electrostatic discharges and power surges. A whole-house lightning protection system consists of air terminals (lightning rods) AND surge arresters at your utility (electrical) service, telephone equipment, and outside antennas (including satellite dishes) to prevent surges from entering your home on power, telephone, and antenna lines.

Lightning Rods and Surge Protectors

A properly installed lightning protective system is very effective in preventing damage to a building. Even with a DIRECT STRIKE, the charge would be neutralized to ground! The National Fire Protection Association states: “There are few causes against which so reliable a defense is available as a lightning protection system, properly made and properly installed”

We follow UL – 96A and NFPA 780 on all our installations.

How Much Does a Lightning Protection System Cost?

Here are some ballpark estimates for us to install a UL-approved system:

  • A one-story ranch house will cost about $1.00 per square foot*
  • A 2 or 3 story house will cost about $1.25 per square foot*

* Square footage is determined by measuring the approximate width of the house x the approximate length. This is not the living space total square footage of the house. Costs will vary, depending on if the building has dormers, a chimney, the pitch of the roof and other factors.

If we can get a picture of the front and rear of the building, and measurements of how long and wide it is, we can give a “ballpark” estimate. The best way to get an exact cost is to have us come out, at no charge or obligation to you.
Call anytime between 9AM and 8PM Monday to Sat. 423-638-9833.
